About Me

I am often asked what I do for a living. Instead of saying I am a teacher, I respond by saying I get to help students find their passion.

From the moment I started teaching, my educational philosophy has been making my classroom a place where students want to be instead of where they have to be. That statement is still true 23 years later.

I am very excited to start my 23rd year teaching and seventh year here at Westlake High School as a Health Science Teacher / HOSA advisor. Before teaching Health Science , I taught Chemistry and IPC for ten years. My background is in Clinical Laboratory Science where I hold a Bachelors Degree. I worked in a hospital laboratory as a generalist and then ran a laboratory for an Oncologist specializing in Hematology and Coagulation. One thing my students love is for me to tell stories of experiences I have had in the medical field.

When I am not at school, I am an avid reader, I love to bake and I am a mom to 2 sons ; age 19 and 26.
