Welcome to AP Literature and Composition! I absolutely love teaching this course. I love literature with a special passion for poetry and particularly impactful lines in books that make you stop and think for a minute. I try to impart my passion into how and what I teach to my wonderful students. In this course, we study fiction in the forms of novels, poetry, short stories, and plays. All of the works I select are based on literary merit and student appeal. I am dedicated to ensuring my students are confident writers, critical thinkers, and lifelong readers. I am always open to book selections!

I love to travel. For the past eight summers, my daughter and I have visited wonderful cities on a mother/daughter vacation, and at 14 years old, I'm thrilled she still wants to travel with me ; ). This summer, we went to Seattle. It's beautiful. I would like to return to visit the islands and mountains. I was struck by the all of the water in and around the city along with the exquisite glass at the Chihuly Museum and Garden. The food at Pike Place wasn't bad either : ). Coronado (large picture above) is my happy place.

I also love to cook, read, watch movies, and enjoy meals with friends. This is my 28th-and last year teaching. I've been at Westlake for 14 years, and I love the community. I live in the Eanes district and know first-hand how much support the Eanes folks give each other and how much they value education. Please reach out with any question-or book recommendations! I'm looking forward to a wonderful year.
