About Me

Hello and welcome to Spanish! I am Kristine Vanwisse and am so excited to be a teacher in your child's life this year.  We will have all the best learning experiences in a very positive and confidence building way. I am a Native Austinite and  have been a teacher since 1997.  I've taught multiple subjects including Special Education, ESL, French and Spanish, and I bring to the world of education an incredibly rich and diverse level of experience. In addition, I studied Spanish in two immersion programs located in: Bariloche, Argentina and Antigua, Guatemala. 

My master's degree is in the psychology of learning a second language, with a focus on how students' brains work from a psychological function to acquire language! I love this area of education!

In my free time, I enjoy golfing, antiquing, crafting and spending time with my family including two daughters, who graduated from WHS in 2024 and 2025 and are attending the University of Texas! Hook 'em! My favorite genre of literature is historical fiction, especially Texas historical fiction.
