PATH to College and Career is designed to help all students receive academic and social support to help prepare them for the challenges they must face after high school graduation.
In addition to planning for life after high school, PATH will focus on each students' intellectual curiosity, conscientiousness, dependability, emotional stability, and perseverance through tasks that foster deeper levels of thinking and reasoning in math, science, social studies, and reading. This class focuses on developing the habits and skills that are expected of college students and active participants in the workforce through developing personal/interpersonal and cognitive skills that lead to success.
Enrolling in PATH allows students to receive direct instruction in the skills necessary to experience success in high school and beyond.
Metacognitive Skills. The student obtains a greater awareness of the mental processes of learning through the analysis and practice of skills and strategies.
College/Career Planning. The student understands the many college and career choices available and design a personal action plan.
Ethical Codes of Conduct. The student develops a greater understanding of ethics personal character through self-reflection activities.
Personal/Interpersonal Skills. The student acquires self-confidence through the development and improvement of important life skills necessary for positive interactions and communication.
Academic Behaviors. The student associates personal responsibility to academic success by strengthening positive learning behaviors while altering ineffective habits.
Research Skills. The student understands the need for an organized framework to identify an area of interest, collect information, record findings, and create a presentation both orally and in writing.

Any Homework or Study Materials - Because PATH is a course to help support you in all your other courses, it is important to bring all needed materials from and for your other classes. Please plan ahead and always have something to work on.
Westlake High School utilizes the Google Classroom platform to share classroom resources, many assignments, and assessment preparation materials to students. WHS students will receive a classroom code to access these materials, submit assignments, and track any missing work.
If you have information you would like made available to the public (i.e. a slidedeck presentation), post it here. Please be sure anything you post publicly is not in violation of copyright laws--worksheets from publishers, images on slides protected by copyright and/or not cited.
