English 2 Honors

Course Overview

The English II Honors program is the second year in a two-year preparation for advanced placement English study. Instructional approaches include cooperative learning, active student participation, enrichment projects, and technology integration, as well as traditional reading and writing activities. This honors course primarily expands upon the English II core-curriculum by examining literary works from a number of different critical approaches.

On the whole, writing assignments will focus on three areas: creative writing that relates to a specific genre, such as personal essays, short fiction, or scripts; critical analysis essays; and the research/persuasive paper.

Google Classroom

Westlake High School utilizes the GoogleClassroom platform to share classroom resources, many assignments, and assessment preparation materials to students. WHS students will receive a classroom code to access these materials, submit assignments, and track any missing work.
