I’m in my seventh year at Westlake, where I currently teach Psychology and AP Psychology. I also serve as the Head Coach for both the Girls and Boys Cross Country teams, and as an Assistant Coach for Boys Track. A proud native Texan, I grew up in Round Rock. In my free time, I enjoy staying active and healthy through running, biking, hiking, swimming, and other outdoor adventures.
As a teacher and coach, I believe in leading by example. I have the goal of always approaching every day with an authentic, positive energy, and genuine kindness while pursuing worthwhile healthy goals.
I bring 18 years of experience coaching Cross Country and Distance Track, as well as teaching in Higher Education prior to joining Westlake. Two of my favorite courses that I taught at the college level were Servant Leadership and Mental Preparation for Peak Performance. It’s great to be back teaching in the field of Psychology! I believe the psychological concepts we explore in class are not only practical but deeply relevant to our everyday lives—as we strive to lead ourselves and others toward a better, more purposeful future.
Some of my favorite topics in Psychology include brain anatomy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, motivation, self-efficacy, and the growth mindset. I find it fascinating to explore how the brain influences our thoughts, emotions, and behaviors. My hope is that my passion for all the subjects we cover inspires my students as they learn, grow, and develop into the incredible individuals they’re meant to be.
I am married with a son that is a senior!
