About Me

Hello! My name is Cindy Bogard. This my sixth year teaching ninth English grade at Westlake HS.

I have a BA from UT-Austin in English and Sociology and a MS in Counseling Psychology from Our Lady of the Lake in San Antonio. I am certified to teach English grades 4 - 12 and science 4 - 8. Before becoming a teacher, I worked as an editor and writer, and I was a Licensed Professional Counselor for tweens and teens for seven years. Your child’s emotional needs and my positive relationship with your student are very important to me.

My husband and I have two daughters, both of whom graduated from LASA (the Liberal Arts and Science Academy), which is Austin ISD's academic magnet school. Although the girls have graduated from college, I remain very aware of the stresses of modern high school student. 

Furthermore, in our immediate family, we have several chronic illness including Type 1 Diabetes, Celiac Disease, and Ehler-Danlos Syndrome, as well as a history of anxiety and panic. If your child struggles with a chronic illness or has mental health concerns, please let me know.

In addition to reading, I enjoy knitting, socializing, spending time with our three cats, and I am always interested in learning new things.
