Hello!! My name is Mr. Tesfay. I am from Ethiopia and Eritrea. I have lived in many places and have recently moved to Texas from Louisiana. As someone who has been all over, Texas truly has some of the best food in the world.
I have a Bachelors of Science in Elementary Education (1st-8th) with add on certifications for both Kindergarten and 6th through 12th grade Social Studies. Currently, I teach AP World History and I have also taught at the high school level U.S. History, Civics, Economics, and Environmental Science. I am certified to teach JavaScript computer coding, Digital Storytelling, and Coding for the Web through Louisiana State University's Digital Design and Emergent Media program. I have also taught university level World History at the college level through Louisiana Tech University in Ruston, Louisiana.
This will be my second year working in Eanes ISD and my twelfth year in education. Before Westlake, I taught at University View Academy in Baton Rouge, Louisiana and Peabody Magnet High School, Alexandria Middle Magnet, Mabel Brasher Elementary and Glenmora Elementary in Rapides Parish, Louisiana.
My interests include reading, movies, computers, technology, video games, and being a dad to my four kids Asher (graduate from Westlake), Gideon (freshman at Westlake), Avy, and Jordan. My wife is an English teacher for Leander ISD at Leander High School. I love Doctor Who, Avatar: The Last Airbender, The Sandman, Steven Universe, Star Wars, Star Trek, Lord of the Rings, MCU, Anime, Comics, World of Warcraft, (basically.. almost anything with a fandom) and old martial arts films (many of which will make an appearance in our classroom at some point.)
I will keep your schooling interesting. If you give me a chance, you'll never be bored.
