I am so happy to have the opportunity to work with your child this year. My family and I moved to Austin from Mexico City, and we have loved every minute. I was born in Mexico, and spent most of my childhood moving between Dallas, Tx. and Mexico City. For this reason, I genuinely feel that I am from two countries. My husband and I met and married in Mexico City, and have three sons, ages 21, 17 and 15.
I spent the early part of my career teaching high school social studies. However, as the years went by, I often found myself wishing to work with little ones. Eventually, this led me to return to school to complete an MSEd. with a concentration in literacy. Since then, I have taught 2nd and 4th grade at the American School Foundation in Mexico City, and 4th and 5th grade Spanish Immersion and ELA/SS at BCE. As an educator, I strive to provide each of my students with a learning environment that is both nurturing and engaging, that will help each child grow as an individual. I take this responsibility very seriously, and am committed to giving my students the very best of me.
When I’m not in the classroom, I can often be found shuttling my sons around to soccer practice and games. I am also a passionate traveler, and love collecting experiences and memories from around the world. I am always on the lookout for our next adventure, and enjoy planning a trip as much as going on one. We have a dog whom we love very much, and keeps us on our toes. We also love getting outdoors, whether on the water or on a hike, and spending time with family and friends. I can't wait to welcome a new batch of kiddos this year, and make it a great year!
