I am so excited to serve as the GT Specialist for Eanes Elementary!
I began my teaching career in the classroom as a 3rd grade teacher for 12 years, working in Bastrop ISD and in AISD in SW Austin. After that, I took over for the GT teacher that left my school in AISD, teaching grades 1st-5th. I served around 200 students, and I put on a GT showcase for all of the students at the end of the year. I absolutely loved the position, but it was part-time! I found a similar position as the STEAM rotations teacher for grades Pre-K-5th in Hays CISD, where I worked for three years. I focused primarily on engineering and science projects that incorporated art, math, and technology. I also served as the campus GT Liaison for those three years, serving the GT students on our campus through pull-out classes, science fair, and an annual GT Showcase. This will be my fourth year as the GT Specialist at Eanes Elementary, and I love watching my students grow and develop over the years as we add new students to the mix.
In addition to teaching, I am a professional artist. I primarily paint abstract art, but I also work in a variety of mediums including screen printing, hydrodipping, water decaling, sublimation, and resin. I have participated in many art shows and festivals around Texas. I am married to a sculptor and environmental chemist, and we love creating art together. My son is starting 8th grade and he's playing the saxophone in honor band and jazz band, and he's trying out for football this year! I am a native Austinite, and I love taking advantage of all of the events, festivals, music, and beauty our city has to offer.
