Education Background
I grew up in the Eanes district where I attended Eanes Elementary, Hill Country Middle School, and Westlake High School. I graduated with honors from Texas State University with a degree in Bilingual Elementary Education. While I attended Texas State, I worked in the Eanes district as a substitute where I worked in schools across the district and completed my student teaching at Cedar Creek Elementary. Before being hired at Forest Trail Elementary, I also served as a long term substitute teaching 6th and 7th Honors ELA at Hill Country Middle School.
Teaching Philosophy
In my classroom, I strive to create a calm, welcoming environment where every student feels safe, supported, and valued. I believe that students learn best when they are comfortable and confident, so I aim to provide just the right level of challenge to help them grow without feeling overwhelmed. As a guide on their educational journey, I am committed to helping each student develop stronger reading and writing skills through encouragement, patience, and thoughtful instruction. Most importantly, I hope to share my love of reading with my students and inspire in them a lifelong appreciation for literature and the power of words.
Outside of School
Sometimes it feels as if my whole life is school. Both my parents are teachers are teachers in Eanes. My father teaches computer science at Westlake High School and my mother teaches IPC Science at West Ridge Middle School. So school has always followed me home, so I strive to make time in my life for my hobbies. In my life outside of school, I love to spend my time hanging out with friends at live music venues around Austin, seeing new movies at Alamo Drafthouse, and curling up with a good book and my cat Misty. I have celiac so most of the food I eat I make myself!
