Greetings,
I am overjoyed to be teaching third grade language arts at Eanes this year! I am originally from Alexandria, Virginia and graduated from Radford University in 2013 with a Bachelors degree in Interdisciplinary Studies. Since then I have taught both kindergarten and first grade. This school year will be my tenth as an educator. I was initially drawn to education after volunteering at my dad’s school as a senior in high school. He taught second grade and arranged for me to help in a teammates’ classroom. I was able to meet with small groups of students and assist them with their reading and math skills. This experience changed my path because it opened my eyes to ways I could make a positive impact while doing something I loved.
I just moved here from Charlotte, North Carolina but have called Austin home previously and I am thrilled to be back and teaching in Eanes ISD once again. This city is magical and the community here has always been so welcoming.
I am the proud mom of two fur-babies. My dogs are my whole world. Finley is a 9-year-old Siberian husky mix and can lay in the sun all day despite her thick fur coat. Baylor is 7 and a true homebody.
A fun fact about me is that I got back into reading a few years ago and now I read at least a 100 books a year. I am a certified bookworm and love to spend my time finding new bookstores to explore. On weekends, my favorite thing to do is relax with a hot cup of coffee or match and start a new story.
I consider myself a life-long learner and am passionate about instilling this in my students so they can achieve their goals. We are going to have a wonderful year together!
