Hi! My name is Caroline Varner, and I’m so excited to be joining the 5th grade team at Cedar Creek! Fifth grade is such a special time. Students grow in independence, sharpen their problem-solving skills, and make lasting memories as they celebrate their final year of elementary school. I promise to provide your child with a safe, supportive, and joyful place to learn, where they will be both academically challenged and successful.
This is my 18th year in education, and I’ve had the joy of teaching kindergarten through fifth grade, as well as serving as an instructional coach and assistant principal. I’m originally from Pasadena, California, where I had the special opportunity to begin my teaching career at the same elementary school I attended as a child. I later moved to San Francisco, where I spent the majority of my teaching years. I earned my degree in Education from California State University, Long Beach, along with a Multiple Subject Teaching Credential with a specialization in Science. I went on to complete a Master’s Degree in Educational Leadership and Administration at San José State University. In addition, I hold a Specialized Certificate in Gifted and Talented Education and a Texas Principal Certification.
Before moving to Austin in 2020, I had an incredible adventure traveling around the world with my husband. We packed everything into two backpacks and explored over twenty countries in one year! Now, we’re happily rooted in Austin, raising our two young boys, Okubo and Harlo. This is my sixth year with Eanes and my first year at Cedar Creek. I’m so excited to begin this new chapter as a CCE Eagle and can’t wait for an amazing year ahead together!
Kurt, Okubo (4), Harlo (2.5), and me!
