Hello Third Grader!

I am so very excited YOU are in my class!  We are going to spend a lot of time together and get to know each other very well.  So well, you may accidentally call me "mom," or accidentally call your mom "Mrs. Rivas."  Don't worry, it happens and no one will laugh at you. 

Here are a few things about me:

• This will be my 27th year teaching and my 21st year teaching 3rd graders.

• I spent the past 20 years at Valley View in Eanes. 

• I think 8 and 9 year olds are the most fun!

• I am married to Mr. Rivas, and we have 2 girls.  Charlotte is 21, and is a Senior at Ole Miss. Helena is 18 and is going to be a Freshman at Ole Miss. Hotty Toddy!! Both of my daughters attended Valley View, West Ridge, and graduated from Westlake HS. Go Chaps!

• I grew up in Houston, TX. with my two older brothers and my older sister. 

• I love coffee and drink a great big cup every morning!

• I love swimming and I spend lots of time with my family on the lake.

• I think talking and working in teams is the best way to learn.

• I love dogs and cats.  I have a black goldendoodle doggie named Winston. He is adorable and the best dog on the planet.

• I love watching sports with my family, especially football...we are big fans of the Texas Longhorns! Hook 'Em! However, my favorite athletes are my own two daughters. I find so much pleasure in watching them having fun playing sports.

• I love, love, love my profession!

I hope in third grade you learn a great deal, make wonderful friends, and create special memories.  I am glad I get to be your teacher as you do those things this year!
