About Me

Hello! My name is Maria Harkrider, and I am beyond excited to be your child's first grade teacher this year! This will be my 6th year teaching - I taught Spanish Immersion at Barton Creek Elementary for 5 years, and now I get to join the Cedar Creek family for year six.

Before teaching, I attended the University of Texas at Austin, where I studied Bilingual Elementary Education. I graduated in 2020 and realized there's no better city than Austin, TX - Hook 'em!

Outside of the classroom, I love cooking, taking Barre and Pilates classes, and making my house feel like home. I got married this summer (if you see the last name Valero, it’s because I haven’t officially changed it yet!). My husband and I enjoy going to as many UT football games as we can, exploring new coffee spots, and taking walks with our four-year-old mini Golden Doodle, Bear.
