Hello, my name is Ms. Madison Nielson! I was born in Orem, Utah and am the oldest of 5 children. Throughout my childhood my family moved often, living in Utah, Colorado, and Central Texas. In my free time, I love to make music and art, hike, big band swing dance, cook, and travel. However, my favorite thing to do is spend time with my fiancé and our little dachshund Hank.
I graduated from Utah State University with a BFA in Theatre Education and English Teaching. I began my career in education while in college. During this time I gained valuable experience while teaching creative drama classes to students K-8 at Unicorn Theatre, facilitating arts integrated English and Biology lessons in a number of Elementary and High School classrooms, and tutoring at-risk students at Fast Forward High School. From the start, I knew I had found my calling in cultivating young minds, helping students grow as learners and individuals, and simply exploring the world side by side with young people.
In 2020, I expanded my career into the field of Early Childhood Education. I worked as a lead preschool teacher at The Applewood School in Lakewood, CO. In April 2022, I relocated to Austin, TX and worked as a Math and Literacy Coach as well as a Lead Summer Teacher at Lupine Lane Preschool.
Shortly after moving to Austin, I decided to transition back into the world of secondary education and accepted a position as an ELA and Yearbook teacher at West Ridge Middle School. I have loved being a part of the West Ridge community, and I am eager to continue building strong positive relationships with the students and families here!
