Hello! My name is Linda Hargis, and I’m excited to continue my role as Campus Support Specialist at Barton Creek Elementary, where I serve as a reading intervention teacher and Wilson Reading dyslexia therapist. This is my 16th year in the district, and I’m grateful to be transferring to my neighborhood school—the same school my own kids attended. It’s truly special to now serve the community that has meant so much to our family over the years. An added bonus is reconnecting with many former teammates from Valley View Elementary, which brings a strong sense of connection.
Before making the move here, I spent 4 years at Cedar Creek Elementary as Campus Support Specialist. Prior to that, I taught 4th grade for 10 years and also 1 year as a reading interventionist at Valley View Elementary. Working closely with small groups of students across all grade levels and witnessing their reading growth is the absolute best part of my job!
On a personal note, Dave and I have been married for 36 years and are proud parents of three amazing adult kids. Outside of school, I love spending time with family—including our sweet 3 and 1 year old grandsons—as well as with friends. I also enjoy volunteering in the community, being outdoors, traveling, and cooking. A few years ago, our golden retriever (Sally :) was re-homed to us and became part of the family. She has since become a certified therapy dog and brings a lot of joy and comfort wherever she goes, including through her work at Hopice Austin's Christopher House.
Wishing you all a fantastic year ahead!
