About Me

Hello! My name is Laura Salgado, and I'm excited to be at West Ridge Middle School. Teaching Spanish, my native languange, is a true passion of mine, and I love helping kids learn and appreciate this beautiful language.

I was born and raised in Monterrey, Mexico, as the eldest of four siblings. I graduated from college in Mexico with a degree in International Business and later earned an MBA in General Management through an exchange program with The University of Texas. My educational journey also took me abroad to the United States and France, enriching my global perspective.

Eleven years ago, my husband and I moved to Austin with our four children. My eldest daughter graduated from the University of Texas at Austin, while my second one is currently studying at UT as a Junior. My youngest daughter is attending Westlake High School, and my son is at Hill Country Middle School after graduating from the Spanish Immersion program at Cedar Creek Elementary.

I bring with me 10 years of teaching experience in both the U.S. and Mexico, working with students from early elementary to college levels, including those in special education. Teaching has always been my calling, and I'm thrilled to share this journey with the West Ridge Middle School community.
