About Me

Hello there! My name is Katrina Morales, and I am thrilled to begin my 4th year as a Second Grade Teacher at Eanes Elementary. I have also taught Third Grade and Pre-K.

I was born and raised in the midwestern state of Michigan, which is also where I graduated from Aquinas College with a BA in Elementary Education, and a focus in both Early Childhood Education and Language Arts.  Austin has been my home for many years, and I love it here!  I enjoy eating yummy food, reading, writing, paddle boarding, swimming, hiking, and spending time with my husband, and our children, Lola (8) and Emmett (11). 

Creating a calm, accepting, and supportive environment for students to feel safe enough to be vulnerable and to take risks is important to me. I want my students to feel valued. I strive to foster independence and instill within them a love for learning.  My goal is to inspire intrinsic motivation, and build their confidence along the way. 

I believe that all students deserve respect, and that a child's behavior is a direct way of communicating their needs.  It is my job to understand and prepare for those needs. Strengthening social and emotional skills helps to lay the groundwork for academic success. 

Also, I believe that working with the families of the students in my classroom is the most beneficial way to achieve positive outcomes. Parents are the most important and influential teachers in their child's life. 

My goal is to make this school year a positive growing experience for all. I look forward to partnering with you this school year!
