"As human beings, our job in life is to help people realize how rare and valuable each one of us really is, that each of us has something no one else has-or ever will have-something inside that is unique to all time. It's our job to encourage each other to discover that uniqueness and to provide ways of developing its expression."

About Me

Forest Trail is a great place to learn and play!  I have a Masters in Curriculum and Instruction from the University of Texas and I received my Bachelors in Education from Sam Houston State University. I have taught kindergarten, first, second grade and a 1-2 Looping Class. I have taught in the Eanes district for 35 years.  One of the great things about being in one place for so long is that I am now teaching children whose parents went to Westlake High School (Go Chaps!).  The track at Westlake High School is named after my late husband-Mark Hurst Track,  he coached and taught there many years. We lived in Lost Creek for twenty years. I have two daughters that went to Forest Trail, Westridge and Westlake High School.  Hillary is a 2016 graduate of the University of Texas, and is now married and living in Vancouver, British Columbia. Hillary's best friend is someone that she met in kindergarten at Forest Trail! Abigail graduated from Westlake High school in 2017 and is a nurse at St. David's North helping to deliver babies. Abby is engaged to a Westlake grad! In addition to my two daughters, I also have: a cat-Felix (but I call him Fifi), a puppy named Tucker and two grand kittens-Nellie and BB! Besides spending time with my family, I love the beach, traveing all kinds of music, gardening and reading.

My teaching philosophy is simple, Life is a Journey & so is kindergarten! I want my kindergarteners to be challenged, have fun, learn to take risks, be problem solvers, make good choices & lifelong friends.  In our society today everything is fast and furious, I think it's okay to stop and smell the roses!

In a completely rational society, the best of us would aspire to be teachers and the rest of us would have to settle for something less, because passing civilization along from one generation to the next ought to be the highest honor and the highest responsibility anyone could have. -- Lee Iacocca
