Hi! Welcome to my website! Wei is my family name and Yi, given by my parents, means "joyful" in Chinese.
I was born in Chengdu, China (the hometown of panda), and grew up in Xiamen, a beautiful coastal city in the southeast of China. After four years' college at Shanghai International Studies University, I went to New York University for Foreign Language Education (Mandarin) program and earned my master degree.
I moved to Texas with my husband 8 years ago. While he was a doctoral student in Texas A&M, I taught Chinese in Austin. I've been teaching Chinese for 8 years. It is my 7th year working in the district as a Chinese teacher and my 4th year as a MAPS teacher!
Outside of classroom, I like singing, dancing and reading. I also enjoy swimming, playing badminton and table tennis a lot. Traveling is also one of my favorites. I've been to London, Cambridge, Taipei, Hong Kong, Tokyo, Osaka, Kyoto, Hawaii, and so on. I've experienced so many amazing cultures which help me broaden my horizons.
Nice to meet you!
