Algebra 1

1st & 5th Period

Course Overview

This course is designed to meet the needs of students who will be continuing their study of mathematics through four years of high school and into college. Techniques and procedures of problem solving are stressed with emphasis on the understanding of concepts.

Tutoring

Tuesday & Wednesday mornings at 8:10am. Use the Zoom link shared in Google Classroom.

Homework

You will have HW over every topic we cover. To document your practice, take a picture of your top page of practice, and upload to Google Classroom. The key to the HW is posted with the assignment to help you check your work. Be ready to ask questions about the problems you did not understand the next day. If you forget to turn-in a picture of your HW, do it as soon as you remember. When all of my students have received their iPad, I will go over this procedure in class.

Required Materials/Class Supplies

If you have a system of organization that works for you, use it.

If you'd like some guidance, here are some suggestions.

A binder and 3 dividers.

(Dividers: Notes/Handouts, Assessments, Homework)

Spiral Notebook. We will use this for notes.

Pencils, Pens, and erasers. We use pencils for showing our process, pens for scoring, and erasers when learning.

A charged iPad. Our iPads will be an integral part of the workflow. Make sure yours is ready to use.

A Graphing Calculator is required. TI-83+, 84+ or the CE edition are good choices.

(We will no longer checkout calculators, but I have a small number to use in class.)
