My dog, Daisy
Hello! My name is Abby Nickle, and I am the School Based Therapist for Eanes Elementary! I grew up in San Antonio, and my own educational journey included graduating from Hendrix College with a Bachelor's of Science degree in Psychology, and continued on to the University of Texas at Austin, where I earned a Master's of Science in Social Work. I obtained full licensure, and am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker. I have experience working in residential, community-based, and school-based mental healthcare settings, in particular working with folks who have experienced trauma, and I am thrilled to be joining the Eanes Elementary team.
My approach to working with you, our students, is simple: meet you where you are, as you are. I firmly believe in creating a safe and inclusive space where you can feel heard, valued, and understood. I strive to help you navigate the things that are serving as barriers to classroom learning and participation, whether that is focusing on social skills, emotional regulation, or negotiating bigger life changes that may be occurring. No issue is too big or too small; if you are needing a place to process, I am here!
To the guardians and caregivers of our students, thank you for sharing your students with us. I honor the experience and perspective you bring to the table and look forward to partnering with you to support your student as best as I can.
When I am not at school, I love spending time with my community--my friends, family, and dog, Daisy. There's a good chance you will find me outside: I love playing sports, hiking, running, riding my bike, and going camping. I am always in the middle of a good book, love caring for and learning about plants, and am always up for a puzzle!
I am so excited to be starting another year at Eanes, and cannot wait to get to know you all this year. Welcome back!
