About Me

Hello, my name is Cindy McNicholas and I am one of  the music specialist  here at Barton Creek Elementary. Music has been  a passion of mine since I was a child. I grew up in a musical family full of singing, dancing, and instrumentation.

I've been teaching music education for 38 years and I am  starting my 19 year here at BCE. I received a BA in Vocal Music Education K-12 at McNeese State University in Louisiana. I also received my Kodaly certifications in all three levels from Texas State University,  which was sponsored by Hays CISD.I received a Master in Elementary Education and Administrative Leadership  in 2010 which was sponsored by the Eanes Education Foundation.

Music has always brought me joy and inspiration. I'm passionate about creating and sharing it both in the U.S. and around the world.  Working with students and teachers in Nicaragua and Kenya has strengthened my belief in music’s power to unite and uplift communities. It truly is a universal language.

I have two wonderful daughters, Carley, a kindergarten teacher in Liberty Hill, and Hailey, who teaches 2nd grade right here at BCE. In my free time, I love being with my family and friends, traveling, exploring nature, listening to music, reading, walking, and catching Broadway shows.
