Ashley George is very excited to be starting her 23rd year of teaching and her 3rd year here at West Ridge Middle School. Originally from Dover, Delaware, Ms. George earned her Bachelor of Music Education from West Virginia University and her Masters in Choral Conducting from Texas State University in San Marcos, Texas.
Before teaching at West Ridge, Ms George taught at several schools in AISD and moved to Hill Country Middle School here in Eanes ISD in 2012. Under the direction of Ms George, the choirs from Hill Country Middle School and West Ridge Middle School consistently received the highest ratings at UIL Concert and Sight Reading Evaluations as well as Best In Class and Overall Outstanding awards at area festivals. Additionally, her students were selected for the audition-only TMEA Region 32 Treble and Tenor Bass Choirs in 7th and 8th grade. Ms George proudly serves as one of the piano accompanists for the TMEA Region 18 and Region 32 Choirs.
Outside of work, Ms George enjoys all the wonderful outdoor activities Austin has to offer, traveling, cooking, hiking with her dog Lucy, and is an avid pickleball player. Ms George will be working with all the choirs and is thrilled to be teaching here at West Ridge Middle School alongside Mr. Latimer!
Kelan Latimer is proud to be a product of Texas music! His love for choir began at a young age after a positive experience in the 5th grade - thanks, Mrs. Robinson! That continued through middle and high school where he participated in activities sponsored by UIL and TMEA and was a member of the show choir.
Mr. Latimer entered college at Southwest Texas State University (now Texas State) as an accounting major with a vocal scholarship, but soon made the decision to pursue music. After graduation, he began a teaching career that has spanned levels from church children's choir to collegiate ensembles. Most recently, he was a class piano teacher at Anderson High School and an adjunct professor at St. Edward’s University. He is excited to begin his 26th year of teaching as a West Ridge Wildcat!
