About Me

Hi! I’m Susie Thornhill, and I’m thrilled to be part of the CSS team at Bridge Point Elementary.

I’ve always loved reading, and when my youngest child was in preschool, I decided it was the perfect time to return to school and pursue that passion. I earned my Master’s degree in Education with a specialization in Advanced Literacy. After graduating, I was honored to receive a scholarship from the Austin Area Branch of the International Dyslexia Association to complete Basic Language Skills training, which provides specialized instruction for supporting students with dyslexia.

This is my seventeenth year of teaching. Before joining Bridge Point, I spent 12 years at FTE, where I taught both kindergarten and fourth grade before serving as a CSS specialist for both EE and BPE. I’m excited to now be a full-time Bobcat at Bridge Point Elementary!

I’m blessed with a wonderfully supportive husband, Gabe, three amazing sons, a wonderful daughter-in-law, and two precious grandchildren. My oldest son, Curry, and his wife, Maddie, live in Charlotte, North Carolina, with their son, William, who is two years old, and their daughter, Eleanor, who turns one this August.

Our middle son, Gabriel (25), recently completed intelligence training with the U.S. Marine Corps and returned from active duty in Japan last winter. He is now working for a logistics company in Austin. Our youngest, Travis (23), recently completed a graduate program in Finance at the University of Arkansas and is looking forward to finding meaningful work—hopefully somewhere close to home.

I look forward to getting to know you and your child as we work together to help your child grow as a confident reader. My goal is always to provide a safe, nurturing, and encouraging learning environment where every student feels supported and successful. It’s going to be a wonderful year!
