About Me
Hi! I’m Susie Thornhill, and I am thrilled to be part of the CSS team at Bridge Point Elementary.
I have always had a passion for reading and returned to school when my youngest was in preschool to pursue that passion further. I earned a Master’s Degree in Education with a specialization in Advanced Literacy. Upon graduation, I was honored to receive a scholarship from the Austin Area Branch of the International Dyslexia Association to complete Basic Language Skills training—specialized instruction for supporting students with dyslexia.
This is my sixteenth year of teaching. Before joining Bridge Point, I taught for 12 years at FTE in both kindergarten and fourth grade, and later served as a CSS specialist splitting my time between EE and BPE.
I’m blessed with a wonderfully supportive husband, Gabe, three amazing sons, and a lovely daughter-in-law. My oldest, Curry, and his wife Maddie live in Charlotte, North Carolina, with their one-year-old son, William, and are excitedly expecting a baby girl in late August. Gabriel (24) recently completed intelligence training with the U.S. Marine Corps and will return from active duty in Japan this winter. Travis (22) is beginning a graduate program in Finance at the University of Arkansas.
I look forward to getting to know you and your child as we journey together through the stages of the reading process. My goal is always to provide a safe, nurturing, and inspiring learning environment. It’s going to be a great year!
