Third Grade Teacher
Third Grade Teacher
I am so happy to be returning to Bridge Point as a Third Grade teacher! I come from a long line of educators. My grandmother was a teacher, my sister was a teacher, and even my dad made a late in life career change to teaching.Â
I was born in Dallas and grew up in Irving. I attended Trinity University where I earned a B.A. in Humanities, an M.A.T. in Elementary Education, and met my husband, Andy. After completing my education at Trinity, I taught in Texas for three years before moving to Tulsa, where I taught for one year. We then moved to Connecticut, our home for the next 18 years, before moving back to Texas in 2014. All four of our children were born in Connecticut and attended the elementary school where I taught there, but once we relocated to Austin my younger three attended Eanes schools; my youngest son even went to Bridge Point for two years. As for where the kids are now, Lex (27) graduated from Hendrix College and is living in New Jersey and working as an academic advisor at Middlesex College. Caroline (23) graduated from Pepperdine University in April with a major in Film Studies. She's co-producing an indie film in LA now! Sam (21) is living at home, working full time at Dick's Sporting Goods, and taking classes at ACC. And Ben (19) will be a sophomore at University of Colorado Boulder where he snowboards at every opportunity.
While living in Connecticut I attended Teachers College, Columbia University and earned an Ed.M. in Educational Leadership. I've taught Kindergarten, Second Grade, and Third Grade, as well as Fourth and Fifth grade Math and Science in a Gifted and Talented program.
When I'm not in the classroom I enjoy reading, traveling, gardening, napping, listening to music, and playing with our dogs Vlad and Mila. I'm not big on cooking or exercise, but you can still find me at Orange Theory three or four days a week. Nothing makes me happier than when Andy, Lex, Caroline, Sam, Ben and I are all together.
I consider myself to be extremely lucky because I get to work doing what I love. Thank you in advance for trusting me with your children. Please don't hesitate to contact me if you have any questions or concerns. Email is the best way to reach me, and I'll respond within 24 hours. I'm looking forward to a fantastic year!
