This course is designed for students who are interested in developing their craft of photography. Students will learn and expand on camera usage, both35 mm film and mirrorless, use Adobe photo editing software and hone darkroom skills. The elements and principles of art, student knowledge and practical manipulation of the principles of art will be expanded. This is a project-based course designed to take the student through all phased of the creative process, from beginning to end. Art history and art appreciation will be taught.
One 16 G SD card — these can be found at HEB, Walgreens, office supply stores or Amazon. San Disk is a good brand, but there are a lot of options available. Here is an example of one on Amazon.
One flash drive. Here is an example of one that would work. This is just for storing your own images for personal access.

Optional: Mirrorless camera (you may use your own if you prefer, but we have class cameras available for check out).
Westlake High School utilizes the Google Classroom platform to share classroom resources, many assignments and assessment preparation materials to students. WHS students will receive a classroom code to access these materials, submit assignments, and track any missing work. This will be the main platform for class communication including assignments, announcements, resources and reminders. You will be responsible for checking Google Classroom regularly.
