Greetings! I’m Alex Saxon, and I am excited to be your child’s third-grade teacher this year. I’ve spent 12 years in education, with six of those years leading my own classroom. I believe in creating a learning environment where students feel inspired, valued, and eager to explore.
A Dallas native, I graduated from Booker T. Washington High School for the Performing and Visual Arts before heading to the West Coast. I earned a Bachelor’s degree in Art History from Reed College and a Master’s in Teaching from the Lewis & Clark Graduate School of Education and Counseling. Over the past nine years, I’ve had the privilege of teaching in both Oregon and California, and I’m thrilled to now be back in Texas, joining the wonderful community at Barton Creek.
I stay inspired by the people and passions that fill my life. My niece Eleanor is my favorite person to hang out with! Beyond the classroom, I’m a painter, musician, and lifelong learner. I maintain an art studio in Austin’s Canopy complex and enjoy playing piano with local bands. In my free time, I love reading fantasy and historical fiction and am a total bird nerd!
I look forward to partnering with you and your child this year and am excited to be part of the Barton Creek community. See you at school!
