Welcome to 2nd Grade

2025-2026!

Hello!! My name is Ana Gilligan and I am so excited to be your Second Grade teacher at CCE. Education, to paraphrase the great educator Maxine Greene, can not change the world, but it may change human beings, who may change the world. My goal as a teacher is to be present, and in the process, create an environment that allows children to learn the knowledge and skills necessary to thrive in the world. 

I was born in Jacksonville, Florida and spent my entire childhood and teenage years between Florida, Colombia, and Spain. I was able to experience first-hand the gift of living between several cultures and two languages. I am passionate about teaching and hope to impart that passion to my students!!!

I graduated from Florida State University with a masters degree in clinical social work and spent many years as a social worker both here in Austin and in Orlando, Florida. I attended the masters program in Elementary Education at Texas State.  

I am married and have two sons, Samuel (Sam) and Lucas. Sam will be a Senior at Westlake High School this year and Lucas will start 8th grade at Hill Country Middle School in the Fall!

I am thrilled to have the opportunity to be your teacher this year and to get to know and love each and everyone of your kiddos!!!!
