Library Procedures and Expectations
2024-2025
Come directly to the library, not to study hall, and use the main entrance.
Arrive before the final bell. Sign in using the online attendance form when you enter the library within five minutes of the final bell.
Do not sign in before you are seated - you cannot pre-reserve seating.
Select a seat or table where you will remain for the entire class period. Use the QR code on the circulation desk or locate the form in the EAHS Library Classroom or the website. You must sign yourself in using your Google Workspace account. You may not use another student’s device or account to sign in without the library staff’s permission. If you are having difficulty, see a staff member.
Students coming from lunch or Commons must check with their monitor before coming unless they come here
by the bell.
Once in the library, you must stay here for the remainder of the period unless you have a pass to go elsewhere.
Only four students are allowed at a table at one time. Do not move furniture without permission.
Keep your voice down so as not to disturb others. Do not conduct conversations between tables or across the room. This includes chairs that provide flexible seating options and are not at tables. The best voice in a library is one that is quiet, as if you are imparting private information meant only for the ears of the people nearest to you.
Do not leave without permission from Ms. Yorio or a library aide.
Once you have filled out the sign-out form, seek a library staff member to confirm you may leave. Do not leave until BOTH steps have been completed.
Sign out every time you leave and sign in when you return by informing a staff member.
One person may use the restroom or locker at a time.
You will have a maximum of seven minutes for lockers or bathroom visits to allow others time to leave.
You will be asked for a teacher pass if you are going to see a teacher.
You must also sign out to see a counselor, the nurse, or another office (Main, Tech, or Athletic).
You may bring your bag to the table, but it must stay on the floor and not be in the way. Do not take your bag with you during emergency procedures. Your safety matters more than your possessions!
No eating or drinking anything other than water in the library. You may only have water in a lidded cup or bottle by your seats. All other food and beverages MUST be kept on the tables by the entrance and may not be brought into the library seating areas. Keep all liquids and food away from electronics and library materials.
You may use electronic devices (besides your Chromebook) only if you are not disruptive. No audible music or videos are permitted at any time. Use headphones/earbuds for audio content. Be aware of the AUP you signed for proper Chromebook use. The library has two pairs of Chromebook-compatible earphones you may borrow.
Fiction, non-fiction, magazines, and audiobooks circulate for 2 weeks. Current magazines and DVDs circulate overnight. Books used for a current class project have variable check-out terms. Please return materials on time or bring them in to renew. You will receive notices in your email reminding you of overdue materials. If you have lost an item, please see Ms. Yorio for your options for replacing the material.
These rules are guidelines and do not represent the only expectations for mature behavior in the library. Refer to the first page for general library expectations. This document does not include the scope of all possible human actions that may require redirection. Actions that are repeatedly contrary to these expectations may result in disciplinary action in the following possible forms: Relocating within the library, removal from the library for a set period, or a formal referral to the assistant principal.
Character counts and is what you do when no one else is looking.
