While the expectation is that all students make positive choices, we also understand that mistakes and poor decisions happen as a natural part of growing up. The purpose of our discipline program is to ensure a safe and comfortable environment for learning. We believe we can have a safe and comfortable environment if we as a staff set behavior expectations, remain consistent, and assign consequences that are natural and fair. Our leveled discipline process is designed to help students learn from their mistakes because we believe every situation is an opportunity to learn.
If your students brings a behavior concern to your attention please reach out to your child's teacher as the first step. Our teachers are closest to the classroom behaviors and can help resolve many issues.
If you have a concern about our discipline process or additional concerns about a student's behavior please contact Andrew Thumann, Dean of Students at andrew.thumann@eagleschools.net.
If you have concerns about your students participation in sports please reach out to their specific coach. If you need additional support please contact our Athletic Director, Andrew Thumann- andrew.thumann@eagleschools.net

For Middle Schoolers:
Your child can find their schedule in Powerschool after they have logged in.
We will provide each student with a hard copy of their schedule at the beginning of the year during the registration days.
Changing a student's schedule:
On rare occasion we will change a student's schedule after the year has started. This is usually based on an individual student's needs. If a student has valid reason for needing to change their schedule we encourage them to reach out to Mrs. Gross either at school in person or by email: tiffany.gross@eagleschools.net. Once Mrs. Gross receives an email she will discuss the need with teachers/staff and respond back to the student to either confirm or deny the request.
Schedules will not be made based on "friendship needs".
For Elementary Students:
Please email or Dojo message your child's teachers. We have a general schedule that we follow daily, however, teachers may need to make adjustments throughout the week. Students will have the same lunch, specials, and recess times daily. The specials will maintain the same schedule each week (ex Mondays- PE, Tuesdays- Art etc.)
If you have questions about your child's specific learning plan please contact their case manager. If you have concerns about your students academic progress and they do not have a specific learning plan already, please discuss your concerns with your student's teacher. After this your student's teacher will reach out to the appropriate case manager or staff member to discuss intervention/support needs.

STAR Assessment-Eagle County School District administers the Star Assessments for grades K-12. Star Assessments include Star Early Literacy, Star Reading and Star Math. They are short tests that provide teachers with personalized learning data for each student.
Star tests are computer adaptive, which means they adjust in difficulty to each answer students provide. This helps teachers get the best data to help students in the shortest amount of testing time (about one-third of the time other tests require). Students may take a Star test for early literacy, math, or reading. Teachers analyze the data they receive from Star Assessments to learn what students already know and what they are ready to learn next, to monitor student growth, and to determine which students may need additional help.
Star Assessments are research-based and scientifically proven to help teachers guide each student on their unique path to proficiency. This assessment is given beginning, middle and end of the year as well as throughout the year as determined by the teacher.

The school's health office is often your first line of contact for any medical issue, surgery, condition, medication, or emergency that affects your child while attending school. Should an injury occur while your child is at school, minor injuries (including, cuts, scrapes, bumps, etc.) will be treated at school. You will be notified of any injuries requiring more attention.
Health offices do not keep any over-the-counter stock medications per district policy. Therefore, any medication you child needs during the school day will need to be sent from home and a Medication Authorization Form will need completed by their medical provider. Medications need to be in the original, labeled container and delivered to the health office by a parent or responsible adult. Unlabeled baggies will not be accepted. The health office can provide you with our district guidelines on bringing a medication to school if you need more information.

The SMART tag™ system helps increase safety and security for students riding on a school bus, leveraging technology to improve student management and communications on school buses.
SMART tag™ monitors the location of each school bus, including student loading and unloading, providing real-time information to the Transportation Department, and you, the parent.
SMART tag™ will help...
increase driver, school, and parent awareness
ensure riders will load on the right bus and unload at the right stop
maximize rider safety and security
enable drivers to efficiently and effectively carry out their duties
ensure Special Education and Pre-K students are released to authorized guardians.
SMART tag™ Parent App
SMART Alerts – sign up to receive push notifications when the bus is near your student’s designated bus stop.
SMART Locate – view live bus location from when you receive the arrival alert up to your home stop.
Authorized guardian release. This allows you to add and update authorized guardians through the Parent App (for primary parents only and if enabled by your district).
If you need assistance once you are in the SMART tag™ Parent App, click on the 'Help Center' button on the bottom of the Account tab or call SMART tag at 855-604-6344 for assistance.
For general transportation questions, contact the Transportation Department at 970-328-2744. Para espańol: 970-328-2743.
SMART tag™ bus passes are required to ride the bus. All ECSD students that wish to ride the bus will be required to produce their bus pass each time they ride their assigned school bus. Eligible riders will initially receive a FREE SMART tag™ bus pass that is a Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) card, much like a ski pass, that will be required for the student to board the bus. The assigned card will be good for the duration of your student's ECSD career in elementary and middle school. Once in high school your child will receive a free new card with their school ID printed on it each year until they graduate.
Replacement Bus Passes
If your child has lost their pass they can purchase a replacement from their school front office, bus driver ot call 970-328-2744 for assistance, or go to https://eagleschools.epaytrak.com/. The cost for a replacement bus pass is $10.00.
Once the $10.00 is confirmed received by the students school, bus driver or through the transportation office, we will print the new pass and get it to the bus driver to be delivered to your student usually by their next ride.
IMPORTANT NOTICE
Bus passes are the property of Eagle County School District and to be used for school district purposes only. PLEASE DO NOT PUNCTURE BUS PASSES! For the safety of all students bus passes are required to ride any school bus for any purpose. Purposefully damaging the pass card by punching holes, chewing or defacing the card in any way will be considered an act that may cause a 3-day suspension from riding the bus and requires the purchase of a replacement pass. All costs associated with replacing a pass are the sole responsibility of the student and parent or legal guardian.
Please explain to your child that drivers cannot wait for running students. Most student accidents happen from slipping and falling while running. To discourage this unsafe practice, we will not wait for runners and instead ask that children arrive at their bus stop five minutes prior to the bus arrival time to catch the bus.
