School of Logic - Physical Education
Course Description:
The students will engage in physical activity, learn strategies, demonstrate fitness skills, demonstrate locomotor/manipulative skills, and comprehend health topics including Nutrition, Stress, Technology, Safety, and Exercise.
Physical education provides students with an opportunity to include physical activity (exercise) as part of their weekly routine. By offering students at least a moderate level of exercise throughout the week, physical education teaches the importance of physical activity in developing healthy lifestyle habits. The physical education program strives to create an atmosphere that is not intimidating, but rather fun and enjoyable. Regular exercise enhances fitness levels, improves mental health, and encourages social health through cooperation and competition. Other benefits of regular exercise include healthy movement, reducing stress, and improving the quality of sleep.
The students will reflect and complete self-evaluations throughout the year following our National Shape America Standards and the Minnesota Physical Education Academic Standards.
