The E.P.I.S.D. Discipline Alternative Education Program is an off-campus educational facility that services students from elementary through high school grades who have been removed from their regular classes for mandatory or discretionary reasons or having violated the legal system of the state of Texas. By establishing a caring relationship with students, parents, and staff, our program is able to offer opportunities for students to achieve their maximum potential. It is a great opportunity for students to refocus, make positive changes in their behavior, and decide on a new life style that will guide them towards reaching their goals.
Students assigned to the Discipline Alternative Education Program are expected to comply with the following guidelines:
A student shall:
1. Maintain consistent and punctual attendance.
2. Student will comply with DAEP Dress Code at all times.
3. Complete assigned work in a conscientious, timely and accurate manner.
4. Respect the rights and property of others.
5. Follow all instructions and rules in a cooperative manner.
6. Accept directions and consequences.
7. Use appropriate language and behavior at all times.
Secondary students placed at DAEP will be placed on EDGENUITY for each class based on their academic needs. DAEP teachers will work with the home-campus to ensure student learning and progress. Students will also be developing skills on self-regulation, self-discipline, and goal-setting through lessons, discussions, and counseling sessions.
The success of the student requires continuous parental/guardian commitment and involvement. Therefore, DAEP strongly encourages parents/guardians to attend weekly support group meetings and district parent trainings to assist and inform parents of the student's progress. A minimum number will be required to satisfactorily complete the assigned DAEP term-1 meeting per week that the student is assigned. Parental involvement meetings may consist of counselor’s meetings and teacher conferences as well as trainings/presentations are provided. Attending these meetings may result in reduction of the student’s term assigned at DAEP.
