Pathways in Technology Early College High School, or P-TECH, is a new model of education developed by IBM. This program is a multi-year commitment for students and their school districts, as students remain enrolled in their home districts for the four years of high school, plus up to two additional years to complete the associate's degree. Students completing the program will earn an NYS Regents Diploma from their home district. At the same time, they gain valuable work experience and training through the completion of an associate degree with one of our higher education partners (Jamestown Community College or Alfred State).

This New Public School Model offers a hands-on and project-based, productive education. P-TECH is a student-centered school where the courses are relevant and authentic; where curiosity is sparked, and where students get out of their chairs, outside of their classrooms, and experience learning in new and exciting ways.

The P-TECH classroom is a collaborative and lively environment, using state-of-the-art equipment and 1:1 integrated technology to support hands-on, STEM principles to bring out the best in what a school can offer. Once students grasp core concepts within lessons, they are encouraged to identify challenges that they want to solve using their newly developed skills to research, design, and test. This is learning done your way!

This applied, project-based way of teaching and learning allows students to grasp concepts quickly, develop confidence and appreciate the value of learning as it relates to their own lives and the world around them.  You will never ask again “Why am I learning this information? Or “When will I ever need to know this?”

P-TECH is a productive experience that feels lively and makes the student engaged by bringing purpose and reasoning into everyday activities.

IBM’s investment in the 9-14 P-TECH School Model is a powerful partnership designed to ensure that all students achieve their highest potential and are prepared for a brilliant future.

P-TECH supports students through the career exploration process by partnering with local industries that will introduce students to 21st-century skills, STEM industry roles and duties, actual processes, and quality standards.

P-TECH students participate in job-shadowing, receive professional mentoring, and have internship experiences that develop their confidence and value.

Over 4-6-years (HS-2 yr. college) P-TECH students develop high-demand skills and valuable work experience within a STEM field.

P-TECH prepares students who have a passion for their careers to succeed in college.

Upon completion of the P-TECH program, students will have earned a High School Regents Diploma (year 12) and an associate degree (years 13-14) in an exciting high growth, STEM field.

The P-TECH Model allows students to move through the program at their own pace. Fast-tracking students can accelerate and graduate with a Regents High School Diploma and an Associate Degree in as little as four years.

Regardless of the speed, all students earn both a Regents High School Diploma and an Associate Degree in a lucrative STEM field, at NO-COST, upon completion.
