Comprehension
*Note that although comprehension strategies can be taught, ultimately, it's the combination of all literacy skills that allow us to comprehend. Comprehension is the product of a reader's ability to simultaneously apply automatic word recognition skills, language comprehension, and strategic knowledge. If a child struggles comprehending texts, we must first look to the individual "preliminary" skills before intervening with comprehension strategies alone.
