The University of Baguio Library is open Monday to Saturday 8:00 am to 6:00 pm
The University of Baguio Library to offer library orientation and library instruction to all individual users, classes, or groups that request these services, if the request is done in a timely manner and a librarian is available for that time. The library orientation is designed to introduce new or potential users to the collection, facilities, organization, and services of the library.
Assist students, faculty and staff in accomplishing their goals and objectives by providing comprehensive reference service
1. Material Requests – determining the availability and/or locating specific items requested by customers.
2. Ready Reference: This service provides for brief factual answers typically within five minutes using basic, readily available sources such as almanacs, dictionaries, encyclopedias, etc.
3. Standard Reference – providing answers to more complex and time-consuming questions that may involve more than one concept and/or consulting multiple sources
4. Bibliographic Instruction – teaching customers how to independently use library materials such as the library catalog, reference sources, and bibliographic tools
5. Readers’ Advisory – suggesting or recommending particular titles or au-thors to readers based upon familiarity with the collection, bibliographies, reading lists and other readers’ advisory tools, both in print and online
6. Referrals – directing a customer to another library, agency or specialist when the resources at hand do not provide the required
a. Reference Desk: The library staff will answer queries immediately if the research involves not more than 15 minutes. More extensive research will require accomplishing the SDI Form (see Policy on SDI).
b. Telephone Information Service: Patrons may call the library and staff will answer ready reference questions and do shelf checks for specific titles. Because of time constraints, the library imposes a limit of five-minute telephone request per caller per day.
c. Online Inquiries: Patrons may contact the library through its official Facebook page, University of Baguio Library (https://www.facebook.com/UbaguioLibrary) or through its e-mail account (library@e.ubaguio.edu) and the staff will answer ready reference questions and do shelf checks for specific titles.
d. Mail Services: Queries received by mail will receive the same attention as any other reference transaction. Requests for genealogical information beyond the scope of ready reference will be answered by form letter providing a list of professional researchers in the area willing to provide more extend-ed services for a fee. Questions about local history that involve research will receive a similar form letter and a list of researchers who undertake such work.
