Meet the Teacher

Self-Introduction:

My name is Brandon A. Quezada, and I am a Secondary English Education teacher here at V.V.H.S. I graduated from the Mary Lou Fulton Teachers College at Arizona State University (West Campus). I am truly excited about the many possibilities and opportunities that this school year will have to offer. I achieved my master's degree in secondary English education in July of 2016, and I hope to continue on my academic journey and eventually receive my doctoral degree in education strategies for adult learners as well. I want to be as knowledgeable as I possibly can in my content area. I personally feel it is important for every teacher to be involved in ongoing education, in order to grow with the ever flowing generation of students that will come in and out of their classrooms.

I’ve chosen to enter the field of education because I want to help make a difference and support students the way I was supported in school. This career can make a huge impact in the lives of not just one student, but many. Teachers in my opinion can help bring out the best in students by introducing them to their true learning abilities. Everyone learns differently, it is my personal goal to help my students understand how they learn. I feel that reading comprehension and writing skills are a necessity in order to succeed in life. This is why I have chosen English as my subject and content area. I want students to be able to explore this subject using their own individual creativity.

I feel that if students have the proper tools and support in their educational experiences, they will succeed without a doubt. Students are all unique, not one is the same as another. Students all have different backgrounds, ethnicities, and learning abilities. I feel that it is our job as educators to use their individual backgrounds to help bring out their best qualities. This means understanding the demographics of your school and keeping a “Sociocultural Consciousness” in mind at all times.
