Dear Parents/Guardians:
Hi! My name is Cheyenne Nichols and I’m going to be your student’s 9th grade English Teacher this year. I graduated from Northern Arizona University with a Bachelor’s in Secondary English Education. I’ve since moved from Flagstaff and have been living in Surprise the past two years. After working with freshmen and sophomores during my previous teaching experiences, I sparked a connection with these specific grade levels. I am ecstatic to continue working with 9th graders at SRHS.
I decided to become a teacher by combining my love for reading and writing with helping others. I use my experiences as a guide to constantly improve the learning environment for my students. My goals are to actively motivate and engage my students, as they thrive in a student-centered learning environment. Personalized learning and differentiated instruction, including an emphasis on technology, play major roles in my classroom. Students will have the opportunity to utilize their creativity and individual learning styles regularly.
I have high expectations for my students and myself. It will be a challenge and students will be expected to perform at a higher level than they are accustomed to. I will provide a supportive and encouraging learning environment for my 9th graders to openly express their ideas and demonstrate their unique learning capabilities.
I am looking forward to a great year!
Best,
Ms. Nichols
