About Mrs. Freeman

Welcome!

My name is Shiloh Freeman, and I am so excited to be your scholar's art teacher!  This will be my 23nd year teaching, and my fourth year teaching at Canyon Ridge.  It's my first year teaching art, however!  I come from a long line of educators starting with my great grandmother.  I taught at Sunset Hills for 12 years before moving to Canyon Ridge. Prior to moving to Surprise in 2008, I taught for seven years in Colorado (where I was also born and raised). I have taught 2nd-5th grades, and love teaching each grade level for different reasons.  I have also been fortunate to "loop" with my scholars three times.

I attended Adams State College (now Adams State University) and earned my Bachelor's degree in Elementary Education.  I minored in Mass Communications, and worked for the newspaper in my community for two years.  In 2007, I earned my Master's degree in Curriculum and Instruction.  I have always loved working with kids, and truly believe that education is my calling.  It's what I was meant to do.

In my spare time, I enjoy running, reading, and spending time with my friends and family.  I enjoy traveling, and believe that reading takes us anywhere.  I have been fortunate to see some amazing cities and meet incredible people.

As a teacher, my mission is educate your child the way I would like for mine to be educated.  I believe strongly in the relationships I have with my scholars and with parents.  I strive to build positive relationships with everyone in my school family.  As an art teacher, I plan to have scholars use choice based centers in grades K-4.  I am so excited for this new endeavor!

Let's have an amazing year!
