Hello,

My name is Brian Kirchner. I am currently teaching 8th grade mathematics at Cimarron Springs Middle School. This will be my 16th year teaching mathematics. Previously, I have taught/coached at the high school level and since have been at Cimarron Springs for seven years. We are very excited to start the second year at the new Cimarron Springs Middle School!

I have been fortunate to have a variety of teaching experience in my short career, which has helped me become the teacher I am today. Other than obtaining a degree in mathematics, I have also gained valuable knowledge from tutoring junior high students all the way through college level math. I have been a substitute teacher, a special education teacher, and taught wide variety of courses in the general education curriculum. This year, I will be teaching our high school level Algebra classes for the 8th graders as well as regular 8th grade math.

Students in my class are expected to be respectful and well behaved, as they soon will be adults in the "real-world" and will have to understand how to work in cooperative departments. Students are also reminded on a daily basis to be involved with the learning process. This includes, but is not limited to asking questions, taking notes, working with peers, and engaging in discussions. My goal is to support and facilitate an educational environment that will prepare students for post-secondary opportunities through setting high standards and expecting students to value and take responsibility for their learning.
