Western Peaks Expectations
Homework: The weekly homework assignments will help reinforce the skills we will be working on in the classroom so it is important to complete them on time.
Homework will be 10% of your child’s grade. Homework will be assigned Monday-Thursday and will go home on Friday (for those who need a head start) and is due back the following Friday. Please contact me at nicole.cline@dysart.org so that we can work together if your child is struggling with homework.
Lunch & Snacks
Lunch is at 11 am for 2nd grade. Click Here for Lunch Menus
Students may bring their own daily snack. Snacks should not be candy and only take your child about 5 minutes to eat. This shouldn't be messy but something quick and easy. Some good ideas for snacks would be crackers, pretzels, carrots (no dressing), apples, and/or grapes. They will not be allowed to eat chips that turn their fingers colors, foods that have to be put together, or foods that are messy (like yogurt).
Attendance
Please call the attendance line at 623-523-8753 and email your child's teacher if you know your child will be absent. When possible, please give the teacher at least 24 hours notice to get work ready.
If your child is absent, they will have one day for every day absent to make up and turn in work.
Water bottles are permitted in class with clear water only.
Please do not send juice, sports drinks, flavored water, or soda.
All water bottles must have a lid that seals properly.
Please label your child's water bottle even if it is disposable.
Getting Home
Your child’s safety is important, A transportation sheet, stating how they will get home, will be completed at Meet the Teacher night. Click here to print the transportation form. Your child will go home per your transportation form instructions unless you send a note, email me the teacher at nicole.cline@dysart.org, or call the school directly at 623-523-8750.
To Schedule Bus Transportation - email directly to bus@dysart.org or call 623-876-7030
Birthdays
Store bought treats should be dropped off before school starts to avoid interruptions.
Be mindful of nut allergies and possibly gluten allergies. We do have students with nut allergies and sometimes dairy allergies. Please read all ingredients.
Individually wrapped items like Twinkies or snack-pack cookies/treats are easiest to pass out and best due to COVID.
Invitations to birthday parties need to be passed out before or after school.
If you are not inviting the whole class, please be discreet. They need to immediately go into backpacks.
