About Me

Hello… My name is Kimberly Chavez and I want to welcome you to what is sure to be an exciting year at Freedom Traditional.  This is my twenty fourth year teaching in public education.  I am an Arizona native and I spent the first five years of my career teaching 5th and 6th grade in the Paradise Valley School District.  I then took 4 years off to raise my three amazing kids.  I then came back to teaching in 2005 in which I taught 6th grade for one year, 3rd grade for two years and then 5th and 6th grade at Mtn. View for 5 years.  After, I spent one year at Ashton Ranch and then moved up to Valley Vista high school as an interventionist and math teacher from 2014-2021. This is my third year teaching at Freedom Traditional and I love it here!

I live here in Surprise with my husband of 31 years and our youngest son Troy who is 21.  He is currently working as an electrical apprentice and doing very well.   My oldest daughter, Peyton turned 26 in June and graduated with her accounting degree in December of 2019.  She lives very happily on her own and is doing great!  My middle daughter, Taylor, just turned 23 and played women’s basketball her first three years at the University of Oregon and then transferred to the University of Arizona where she just graduated in May of 2022. She currenlty lives in Dallas, Tx.

I received my bachelor’s degree from Arizona State University in 1995 in Secondary Education with a concentration in History and a minor in Science.  In addition, I obtained my middle school endorsement and became fully K-12 certified in all subjects K-6.  I then continued my education and received my Master’s degree in Educational Leadership in 2003 from Northern Arizona University.  In 2018, I finalized my high school math certification which allows me to teach Math at the 9-12th grade as well.

Elementary is where my passion for teaching is paramount and I am so grateful for this opportunity to, once again, work closely with my students and their families to make this a successful, meaningful, and challenging experience for every child.  I value open communication and hope you feel comfortable contacting me anytime with any questions or concerns.

Cheers to the great year ahead!
