Social Worker bio:

Greetings! I am the social worker at Asante Preparatory Academy. I was born and raised in Lawrence Kansas, home of the Jay Hawks. I moved to Arizona in 2006. Since I can remember I always wanted to help people who were suffering or anyone whose voice was not being heard. Specifically I have always had a calling for youth. I earned my bachelors degree from ASU in 2011 and my masters a year later in 2012. Since then I have obtained my clinical licence through the AZ Board of Behavioral Health (LCSW). I have worked as a social worker in various settings involving youth over the years. I can honestly say that Asante has felt the most like home and because I get to do what I love it doesn't feel too much like work! My goal here at Asante is to help empower students to overcome social and emotional barriers so they can have the tools to excel.

All students are capable of success. It is nearly impossible for a student to learn and focus on academics if their social and emotional needs are unmet. It is my priority to help bridge any gaps so students can reach their potential.

As a school social worker I provide support for social and emotional learning (SEL). This support may reveal in various forms involving problem solving, empathy, emotional regulation, setting goals, and more. You will likely find me providing lessons in classrooms and facilitating small groups to reinforce the SEL materials. I also help provide various community resources for food, counseling, grief support, etc. Please utilize this web page for miscellaneous SEL tips and activities. Please reach out if there is anything I can help you with.
