Throughout this unit, students will deepen their understanding of the ways that people and animals can relate to each other by reading, writing, speaking, listening, and presenting.

Unit 3: Modern Technology- Essential Question: How is modern technology helpful and harmful to society?

Throughout this unit, students will deepen their understanding of the impact of modern technology on society by reading, writing, speaking, listening, and presenting.

Unit 4: Imagination- Essential Question: Where can imagination lead?

Throughout this unit, students will deepen their understanding of imagination by reading, writing, speaking, listening, and presenting.

Unit 5: Exploration- Essential Question: What drives people to explore?

Throughout this unit, students will deepen their understanding of exploration by reading, writing, speaking, listening, and presenting.

Unit 6: Literature Circles- Students will select a book of their choice to read and participate in a literature circle. This unit will reinforce standards through the novel and related non-fiction texts. Students will compose an essay related to their novel.
