All About Your Teacher

Welcome to Ms. Chambers’ First Grade Classroom!!

I am so excited to start out another year here at Riverview School. My name is Katharine Chambers and I will be your child's teacher this year. To have a place of growing knowledge and acceptance is what I want for our classroom. I hope that we will be able to work towards a successful year together. 

I was born in Houston, Texas. Then moved to California, where we spent six years and finally ended my journey in Phoenix, AZ. I have lived in sunny Arizona for 34 years. I attended Arizona State University West where I graduated with a bachelor's degree in American Studies and then a Master's degree in Elementary Education. 

My entire teaching career has been at Riverview School and I am grateful for that. The staff at Riverview has been supportive and amazing since I arrived in 2008. I taught 2nd grade for 1 year and this will be my 16th year in 1st grade. First grade is an exciting year for our students! They learn and grow so much.

Teaching has always been a passion for me. I have a love for learning and I hope that my students learn to love learning as much as I do. By making my classroom a safe, fun and disciplined place for my students, I know they will enjoy coming to our classroom and learning something new every day. I feel that all children are different and require specific attention and affection for them to flourish. I will strive to be that for each of our students; an educator who appreciates each child that walks in her door and gives each of them not only an education, but a passion to learn.

This year will definitely be an amazing year, but as in every school year, things can and will come up. I believe that a successful year starts with an open communication line between parents and teachers.
