Eric, has a wide range of experience in dance, design, and music, giving him unique insight into dance scores and soundscapes, choreography and staging, lighting and projections. His career spans five decades as a performer, creator, teacher, designer, stage manager, and director.
Studying music from an early age, he has created score edits, original compositions, and sound designs for dance performances for more than thirty years. Mr. Midgley has created original immersive environments for dance and theater productions in both theatres and non-traditional venues - integrating lighting, projection, site-specific sound and set installations, and spatial sound designs.
As a performer, Mr. Midgley began his dance career in 1979, with the Veselka Ukrainian Folk Ensemble. In 1989, he graduated from the Royal Winnipeg Ballet School before joining Ballet Florida in West Palm Beach. In 2001, he joined Ballet Austin and remained there until 2008. He has also appeared as a member of Juegos del Arte, Maximum Dance, American Repertory Ensemble, and as a guest artist internationally. Mr. Midgley has originated dozens of roles as a principal dancer and became known not only for his technique, but also for his versatility and musicality.
