Mrs. Jackie Froelich

Welcome to the DTHS Guidance Office

My very important role at DTHS is to serve as an advocate for all of our students. Whether it is Academic Planning/Scheduling, College and Career Planning or providing Personal/Social Guidance, I am available to assist our students at any time throughout the school day. I strongly believe that the student, school and family need to work together as a team to help each and every student be successful in their future endeavors, and I encourage an open line of communication with families at all times. Our Guidance Secretary/Registrar is Chad Miller. He is a huge asset to our office and is very helpful is assisting with any issue that may arise during the school day.

A Little About Me ......................

I am the oldest of five children and grew up in Belvidere, IL. I graduated from Belvidere High School, where I was very active in athletics and participated in many activities. After graduation, I continued my education at Rock Valley College and earned my Associates degree and then transferred to Illinois State University to complete my Bachelors degree in Education. I started my teaching career at Melvin Sibley Jr/Sr. High School teaching Physical Education and coaching multiple sports. When Mel-Sib consolidated with Gibson City, I taught P.E. at the newly formed GCMS Middle School. In 2002, I was fortunate enough to be able to come to DTHS to teach P.E. and Health. In 2004, I went back to school at Lewis University and earned my Master's degree in School Guidance, and was hired as Dwight High School's Guidance Counselor in 2006. In addition to my job as a Guidance Counselor, I am also a Class Sponsor for the Class of 2023, and the sponsor for Peer Advisors and our local chapter of the National Honor Society.

What I am most proud of ...............................

One of the reasons I love my job so much and can spend the extra time it requires sometimes, is because of the support I have always received from the people that I proudly call my family. I have been married for 30 years to my husband Jeff, who is retired after a 33 year teaching career, 30 of which were spent at DTHS teaching Industrial Arts. My daughter, Amy is married to Matt and is a 4th grade teacher and coaches girls basketball in Pontiac, IL, and my son, Andy is currently serving our country in the United States Army. My kids are DTHS Alumni and went on to follow in their parent's footsteps, earning collegiate degrees from Illinois State University.
