Cue Button Overuse:
We have noticed some replay technicians are hitting the Cue button excessively on each play in order to get the Cue exactly at the snap. This is not necessary or recommended. Please hit the Cue button once at the snap. If you accidentally hit it too early because you thought the team was going to snap the ball and did not, go ahead and hit the Cue a second time at the snap. However, you should not be hitting the Cue button 20+ times a play.
Point of Emphasis - Marking Video Procedures (Football)
[Full Marking Video Procedures]
New Play = When center puts the hand on the ball
Cue = Center snaps the ball
End Play = 3 seconds after the play ends
Replay = Mark replays each time TV sends one down the Program Feed
Pause = During timeouts, quarter/halftime breaks, and long breaks in the action due to injury or weather.
Data = If data is not finished when it is time to mark a “New Play”, mark the “New Play” and return to the play with incomplete data at the next timeout to fix the data.
Other Points of Emphasis:
Possession Team: Make sure the possession team is correct at the start of every new series. We have noticed multiple instances of the possession being flipped to start the game because the possession is not correct on the opening kickoff (Play 1).
Hit End Play on Every Play: Please hit “End Play” on every play three seconds after the play is over. This sends the Coaches Video (SL & EZ) to the Coaches’ IGV Tablets. This should be done on plays where reviews occur as well.
Arrive On-Time & Check Video Feeds First: All Replay Technicians should be in the replay booth no later than three hours prior to kickoff. The only exception is if the conference has asked you to arrive earlier. When arriving, the first thing you should do is check video feeds and notify TV and DVSport immediately if you are missing feeds so we can work as a group to fix the issue. The sooner TV and DVSport is notified the better chance we have to get this resolved.
End of Game: As soon as the game is over, please enter Game in the result and then pause the video. This will send the last play to the Coaches’ IGV tablets so they can start packing up. If the Replay Official asks you to go back to some plays, you can assist them, but only after first putting Game in the result and pausing the video. Also, if there is a fight or fans storm the field at the end of game, please mark a new play to capture that content after first entering Game under Result on the last official play of the game.
Pre-Game Testing: When testing pre-game please mark plays that are at least ten seconds in length. When a tech marks multiple plays in a short period of time it can cause plays not to show up on the Coaches’ IGV tablets which can lead them to think there is a problem when one doesn’t exist.
