How can I find out more about the clubs and activities available at DHS?
In the first few weeks of each school year, DHS hosts a Club Fair open to all students. All the different clubs and activities are represented at the fair and student leaders can talk to you about what their group does and how to join. Announcements about the date and time of the Club Fair will be made at the beginning of the school year.
You can also explore all the different DHS clubs and activities on our Club Information page. Click on each club to learn about the group's mission, activities, and how to contact the advisor or student leaders.
If you still have questions, feel free to visit the Coordinator of Co-Curricular Activities, Assistant Principal Lew Alberti, in the Main Office. You can also email him at lalberti@duxbury.k12.ma.us.
How do I sign up for a club or activity I am interested in joining?
Once you have found a club or activity you are interested in joining, you can sign up at the Club Fair or by contacting a group's advisor or student leader (listed for each group on the Club Information page). Alternatively, you can also find out more by stopping by one of the club's meetings if they have been announced on Schoology or over the morning announcements.
How can I find out what co-curricular events and activities are coming up?
Check out the Co-Curricular Calendar on the homepage of the Co-Curricular webpage for upcoming activities.
Additionally, many clubs announce their meetings and activities via morning announcements, posters found around school, over email, or on their Schoology pages. You can also follow @dhs_cocurriculars on Instagram for posts about upcoming events.
Does everyone need to pay the co-curricular fee?
Every DHS student taking part in a co-curricular group needs to pay the $110 annual co-curricular user fee. The only exception to this is for elected activities, meaning elected StuCo E-Board members or elected Class Officers do not need to pay this fee for those activities.
Families may also request financial aid by completing the Financial Aid Application for Co-Curricular Activities.
More information about the Co-Curricular Fee can be found here.
Do I need to pay the co-curricular fee for every club or activity I join?
The $110 user fee for co-curricular activities must be paid once annually for each student taking part in co-curricular activities at DHS. This flat user fee covers as many clubs and activities as a student would like to take part in for that school year--whether the student is joining one group or ten!
I am a student leader in my club. How do I get on the contact list for all student leaders?
If you are a student leader for one of our clubs or activities and have not been receiving communications from Mr. Alberti, please email him at lalberti@duxbury.k12.ma.us to make sure he has your information.
I am a student leader and interested in running a fundraiser. How do I get my fundraiser approved?
Speak with the advisor of your group about your idea, and work with them to fill out the Fundraising Request Form. Once this is completed, drop the form off with Mr. Alberti in the Main Office.
I have an idea for starting a new club, how do I get my idea approved?
If you have an idea for a new co-curricular club, fill out the form on our Start a New Club page, and then email Mr. Alberti at lalberti@duxbury.k12.ma.us to let him know you have submitted it.
More information can be found in the DHS Student Handbook under "Co-Curricular Activities."
